Lowe’s Sells Lead Painted Vases?
After Christmas I found a vase at Lowe’s for less than $3 on clearance. I thought it would make a good decoration for our living room and I liked the warm color. It wasn’t until after I got it home and out of the box, that I noticed this little label on the bottom.

I’m fairly certain Lowe’s doesn’t sell lead paint right? So why are they selling home decorations with lead? Their web site gives you information on how to protect your family from unnecessary lead exposure and their stores sell lead testing kits. Never would I have imagined I’d need to break out a kit and test an item in their store BEFORE I purchased it!
But it’s all good. We don’t live in California. Apparently, that is the only state that lead can cause “reproductive harm” to consumers. It’s a damn good thing we live in Indiana. To be on the safe side though, I’ll try and keep my husband (and son) from licking the vase…just in case.

that’s a pretty cool vase though….
wow, that’s just crazy bizarre… hey, but at least they warned you, which is more than can be said for other things that come from China!
I saw the same thing on a set of bowls in an Eckerd (drug store). Same thoughts - 1) why would they use lead to decorate something that is going to contain FOOD and 2) good thing I’m in New York, so I’m safe from the reproductive harm that might come to me if I ate out of the lead tainted bowls in California.
Vase is very pretty.
I would hope there’s not much random vase licking going on in your house, but if there is, you know, there’s nothing wrong with that. We just don’t roll that way around here.
oooh. i guess $3 buys you the possiblity of lead poisoning…
Oh my gosh, I beginning to feel its a conspiracy and China knew and has been slowly poisoning us for years. All we have to do is see if their stuff is filled with lead, or if they systematically leave it out of their products?
Thanks for the info.

I want a lead vase so I can see if my family will randomly lick it. I feel so left out Emily; shucks.
Oh that is right, we, like you and Erin shouldn’t have any issues with the lead, correct? Seeing as how we don’t live in California we are safe; whew, what a load off my mind!
The lead paint doesn’t affect anyone unless it starts peeling and someone eats it right? Hmmm….do you need a snack?
Just buy an American made vase instead. :o)
Hi again! I don’t mean to bug you at all, but I wanted to let you know about my giveaway this week - it’s for a Go-Ped Scooter!! I just thought you might be interested! Have a great week!
I would have taken it back and also written the company.
The label is humorous though. Seems the rest of the country is safe.
