Happy Birthday Charlie! Whoever You Are?
A big thanks to the neighbors across the street from us who had a garage sale very early Saturday morning. We had stayed up late the evening before, so we looked forward to sleeping in on Saturday. The garage sale wasn’t the issue…the sign they put out by the street that caused cars driving by to honk at 6 a.m. was the problem!
You’d think they could at least wait until 8 or 9 a.m. to put the sign out on the street. We don’t even know who Charlie is, but since he doesn’t live there I am guessing he didn’t awaken to the honking.
Oh. my. word. I’m so sorry! I don’t get to sleep in anymore with a son who gets up at 7… at the latest! But I totally feel your pain. They’re putting in some new (fancy schmancy) condos just 2 houses down from us and last summer they were starting work at 6:30am on weekdays and 7:30am on weekends. With big rumbly machines that shook my entire apartment. LAME! I considered filing a noise complaint with the city, but I was so tired from getting up at all hours of the night with my baby I never got around to it.
OMG how annoying!! We’ve had our share of annoying neighbors too - although thankfully not where we live now. At our last house the neighbors were pot smoking, bongo drum at 3am playing, dancing nude around the bonfire, howl at the moon types. I once called the fire brigade on their as*ses because I was SICK of them lighting their garden refuse on fire (and it’s illegal) and then the smoke always blew towards (and into!) my house. Plus they let their (very sweet and kind) dog roam around the streets, often neglecting to feed him or put water out for him either for days - which of course *I* would do. Oh, and the woman, had 3 kids from 3 different guys…
That is really crap. I would have stolen the sign if it had been in front of my neighbour’s house at that time…
Um. Nice. I would have been throwing things at that sign.
Or at least telling my dh to.
I probably would have marched out in my pj’s and removed the sign, gah!
Perhaps they were hoping some annoyed neighbor would come over and buy everything at once to quiet things down. Luckily for us, our non-critter neighbors like to sleep in as much as we do. Now if I could do something about those noisy 0430 birds!!
Honking is the least I’d have wanted to do to Charlie! The neighbors had some construction last summer and they started on Saturday mornings at like 6. I was seriously annoyed.
I do know about your area Emily, but in our wonderful county and most counties in Virginia, if you create a noise nuisance before 8am, then you call the police. Same goes for late night noise. After 10 or 11, the police can be called.
I think I would have been yelling out my window, or at least doing some passive, aggressive crap to get it too stop…hehe.
