Lost: 1 Mind, 1 Internet Connection & 1 Flowerpot
Where have I been? Well, to better answer that question is probably to tell you where I have not been lately. This dial-up internet is seriously for the birds (as my Grandmother used to say)! I don’t have time to come home and wait for page after page to load, after all haven’t you heard that 90210 is back on?
Aside from work being busy and life in general being busy, I’ve been trying my best to keep up with Props & Pans (review site). I took over as publisher last fall and with our DSL connection it wasn’t much of a chore. With dial-up that is a whole other story. I’m struggling.
A week ago we had the remnants of Hurricane Ike. Who would think it would have much effect way up in Indiana? Not me. Not the cornfields whose stalks are all in my landscaping either.

The wind was absolutely some of the fastest I’ve ever witnessed. It’s an odd feeling to sit inside your home and watch as patio furniture, flower pots and other debris fly past your window. In some respect it reminded me a lot of The Wizard of Oz when Dorothy’s house was spinning in the twister and the items were flying past the window.
There were widespread power outages and we were lucky. Neither the electric, the satellite TV or our dial-up internet went out. But the wind took out the soffit ceiling under our back porch and ripped some trim and a few shingles off the house and garage. A few days after the windstorm, a neighbor at the end of our street pulled several pieces of our house out of their pond. I think we’ve collected everything that came off, so we can add that to the chore list to repair.
I’m fairly certain that the slide is not normally flying through the air.

90210 Is My Pretend Zip Code
I accredit the TV show Beverly Hills 90210 for getting me through high school and college. It ran from 1990-2000 and I’ve seen every episode at least twice. Back in college my roommate (for 3 years) and I would race home, possibly skipping a class or two, in time for the afternoon re-runs. What can I say? I was hooked and so were my friends.
It was all the drama, that my life certainly didn’t have, which attracted me. I lived in the hicks, not the hills and my first car was a Mercury Topaz, not a Mercedes Benz. See the connection?
When I found out they were creating a new 90210 spin-off on the CW I was beyond excited. Lately the closest thing I could find with spoiled rich kids and unrealistic stories was Laguna Beach and The Hills.

They are even bringing back my favorite original 90210 character - Jenny Garth as Kelly Taylor. She was my idol back in high school. I even remember cutting her picture out of a magazine and asking a hair stylist to cut my hair the same way. (It didn’t quite turn out by the way.)
Kelly’s character on the show went through more things in 10 years than most people do in a lifetime. She was stalked, burnt in a fire, raped, addicted to coke, sexually harassed by a boss, almost murdered…need I go on? Well her mother was a recovering drug addict, she dated her best friends ex, joined a cult and battled an eating disorder.
Tonight on the 2 hour premiere Kelly returns as the guidance counselor. How fitting? Hey, she’s seen and done it all. You know were to find me this evening.

My name is Emily. I’m 30 years old. I have often been told that I ask a lot of questions, but I think I have more to say than ask.
